About

Dr. Sylvia Bereskin has always been passionate about learning and about women’s experience of the world. As an educator (she’s taught from Grade 3 to graduate school), she has always looked beyond the experience to the meaning. Now, as she is about to enter a new part of life (commonly referred to as retirement) she is exploring the meaning of this transition.

Dr. Bereskin has published numerous articles (sometimes under an earlier name – Sylvia Solomon) including Necessary and sufficient conditions: the lives of eminent Canadian women (1989, in Ellis, J. & Willinsky, J. (Eds.): Girls, women and giftedness. New York: Trillium Press.

She is the daughter of a holocaust survivor, sister of three talented women, the mother of three very interesting children, and Baubie to three beautiful grandchildren.

She lives in Toronto, Canada with her sweet husband David and their dog Isis.  They all love hiking.

  2. You are going to give retirement a new definition. We wish you health and creativity(Ruth).
While closing your present office door, you are opening one with wider vistas, one that will have great impact on many people, including friends like me and a very wide audience of participants.(Doug)

So this is what it’s like when this all works. What a great posting! It was full of information that I’ll definitely follow up on. The most amazing thing is finding someone on your blog who’s supportive of my move into more writing. I guess (I’ve been trying to figure out what this excitement about social media is all about – maybe I’ll write about that) this is social media for retired women. And it’s great!
